Over the past few weeks SEQUEST has been submitting contact details to various online directories and other emergency services  for contact's. As word is spreading other service's are learning on the service's we provide on emergency channels from monitoring and making sure everyone is safe at the end of the day. Look forward to meeting and greeting other services and organisations to touch base.

Despite cooler Conditions,  Residents are still urged to remain vigilant with Bushfires following the recent dry and hot conditions.
QFRS, reminds, that a small fire at moment, can easily turn into a big bushfire.
Any Fires should be reported to Emergency 000 

Public Education Campaign
We are currently in discussion in doing  up a information brouchure on emergency channels and awareness on CBRS information. We are currently in talks with BCF and Anaconda.

Quest News - Bushfire Alert Keeps Emergency Team On High Alert
South East Queensland UHF Emergency Service Team have been kept on high alert over the past few days with bushfire warnings for the south east region. Senior Operations Co-ordinator Shane Barnes put his team on high alert for calls over UHF emergency channels and fire spotting at Glasshouse Mountains fire tower. We decided to setup a command centre to monitor calls we were expecting calls to come in but today no calls occured, with only one fire spotted from Glasshouse at Mt Kilcoy. At the moment we are in a total fire ban which is no outside fires to be lit so every precaution is in place to stop something big from happening. After inspecting local bushland around caboolture fuel load has increased from winter rains and alot of dry undergrowth. For those who have a UHF CB tune into Ch 5 and get latest weather information from monitors who are more than happy to assist the community.
 
Training Package Complete
First Training package has been complete for basic monitoring. Provides the basic need to knows once completed the monitor can move up to the next package. Online training and also outside training to make team more strong in working together.
 
Now a Service!
A decison was made to add "service" in the name of the group. Due to us providing a service and working with other emergency service's.

Proposed Changes To UHF CB from 40ch to 60 channels
 
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is currently proposing changes to the UHF citizens Band Radio Service (CBRS). Theses proposed changes include a reduction to 12.5khz for simplex channels and rentention of repeater channels at 25khz.
 
ACMA has stated the final decison will be made at the end of the year. For current UHF users will mean equipment upgrade to be compatible with the new 60 channel. Alot of the current radios will work on current frequencies but they wont be able to be upgraded to take the new channels.

Queensland Fire Rescue Service Update
 
Last Thursday Operations co-ordinator Shane Barnes held a phone call with QFRS operational staff from Kedron Park, In regards to the group and citizen band radio emergency channels awareness. Raised in the discussion was quick processing in taking emergency calls and passing them Firecom (QFRS Fire Communications). looking into direct phone access instead of using triple 000 system to ease time waiting and going through the process. Also discussed was about information in regards to taking emergency calls regarding car accidents & fires.Further Update to come
